Baird And Charlie “Bird” Parker

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Birdland Music And Recording in Lansdale, PA is run by Baird Parker, son of Charlie Parker, Jr.

Charles “Bird” Parker was born August 29, 1920 and died March 12, 1955. Charlie was an American jazz saxophonist and composer and is still one of the most influential musicians. He was given the nickname “Yardbird” early in his career. Over time, the name became shortened to “Bird”. The name inspired him to write the compositions “Yardbird Suite”, “Ornithology” and “Bird of Paradise.”

Baird Parker is also a talented musician. Together with sound engineer, Guilio Kitao, Baird operates a music store and recording studio.

LYRICS
There’s a place that I can go, take a trip and fix my holes
but i’m the only one who knows that game
somewhere that i have been, many times to love and sin
ohh, and i’m coming back again (yeah again)

In a moment you shall see, all the things you wanna be
but hey man are you exactly where you want
starting from the very end, and, all the same the day is spent
riding away headed for the sun

pennies in my pocket, and pills to cure my blues
the bullshit on the TV. thats being sold to me and you
policy is sickening, for which there ain’t a cure
and change is what you make of it, but i don’t see none in store
(I said now, Steady…again)

Listen in, so awair, things that are, and are not there
but don’t pretend if you won’t try to care
While i’m, waiting in the unpaid line,
for some bread but all my wine,
has been drank up by all the men in charge

Just in case there’s a trace,
trying to defend the human race,
and it’s safe to say one day this all will end
